Pastoral Care

St. Andrew’s has seven Lay Eucharistic Ministers and three substitutes who visit the communicants who are not able to attend services at the church. The schedule is arranged that long-term shut-ins will receive Eucharist once a month. Those who are in a more serious situation will receive Eucharist one a week, and those experiencing a critical episode will be visited every day. The team of dedicated ministers take the altar flowers and make their visits a personal time with the shut-in. They often perform  services at other times for “their shut-ins”, and each always looks forward to the next visit.

Our Lay Eucharistic Ministers, a continuous effort is made by the office and the vestry members to stay in touch with the congregation in order to be made aware of the pastoral needs of the parishioners. An effort is made to make all functions of the church easily available to those with difficulties, whether they be physical, economic, emotional, or as simple as a need for transportation. St. Andrew’s functions as a family, and all family members are aware of the needs of others and try to meet those needs.

The Dame Julian of Norwich Prayer Circle maintains a prayer vigil for those whose needs are made known to them in an emergency, for those on our healing list who need prayers and our shut-ins.

Please call Sue Wasson to place a name in prayer at 533-4401.
