Hospitality
The ministry of St.
Andrew's stresses welcome to visitors and those outside
the immediate church family. This diverse congregation of
people spanning differences in age, political belief, race, national
origin, language, economic level, and denomination origin. We
treasure that diversity. We dream and work for a society in
which walls that separate us are torn down and bonds of care and
compassion are built. We Welcome all who wish to worship and
serve God with us. Our Alter is an alter of our Lord God at
which only the style of worship is Episcopalian, making Eucharist at
the alter accessible to all baptized people.
The Coffee Hour is hosted by various parishioners and served after the Sunday service. This is a time for fellowship for parishioners and visitors to get acquainted. There are Special Dinners and events throughout the year providing hospitality to all. The hosts and Hostesses of these events perform a ministry in their cooking, baking, serving, setting up, and clean up. This vital ministry to the family life in the parish.
St. Andrew's tries to live by the standard set by William Temple, former Archbishop of Canterbury, who said, "The Church is the only institution which exists for the benifit of those who do not belong to it."
"Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing some have entertained angels without knowing it."
Hebrews 13:1-2
